ITINERARY

 

Day 1 

 

Vitoria-Gasteiz, European Green Capital 2012.

Arrival to your hotel in Vitoria, the Capital of The Basque Country.

Water Route: Follow the trace that water has left over the years in this city. Follow the whisper of the water and the rhythm of the rivers that flow through the city channelled under your feet.

Learn about the history of the wells, the water troughs, the mills, the old supply points and the old water reservoirs that today can be explored inside.

Enjoy a wonderful DINNER in an old and emblematic restaurant.

 

Day 2 

 

Wine culture and history.

After breakfast, you will visit a traditional sustainable family winery, pioneer in certifying the neutrality of CO2 emissions for all its wines, obtaining emission-neutral wines.

Gonzalo will show you around his vineyard and explain the elaboration process of his wine. You will enjoy some wine tasting with traditional lunch prepared with typical food from the area.

You will discover the impact of climate change on the vineyards and other factors of the terrain by traveling the region on an electric bicycle.

Back in Vitoria, you will enjoy free time to continue discovering the city and its wonderful gastronomy on your own.

 

Day 3 

 

La Bella Easo

After breakfast, you will go by train from Vitoria to San Sebastian, a sustainable and comfortable way of doing this journey. A fishing village, a stately extension and modern neighborhoods make this city one of the most attractive on the Cantabrian coast.

You will know a project that wants to contribute to the awareness and eradication of the problem of Sea garbage by empowering the population in the conservation of the environment. You will carry out Sea garbage fishing on board the ship, actively participating in the observation and data collection, different fishing techniques and characterization of recovered waste.

To recharge your batteries, you will taste an authentic whale menu at a nearby restaurant. A gastronomic tribute to the whaling ancestors, with some of the flavors caught in the Pasaia Bay and other varied products.

In the afternoon, you will visit a Basque Maritime Factory, a living museum, located in a renovated old shipyard, where you can visit the construction process of a large 16th century whale ship.

Back in San Sebastian, you will have free time to enjoy the wonderful gastronomy of the city.

 

Day 4

 

Beach Day and Departure.

 

After breakfast, you will have free time to discover the city and the beach by yourself. After that, it will be time to return to Vitoria by train again.

End of the trip.
